[SOLVED] Can't sync the KGH blockchain? How to fix it

Post by Ough » 26 Oct 2018 19:43

Kwagsh 1.0 legacy (KGH) is a dying blockchain, with more and more of the infrastructure crumbling and seed nodes progressively disappearing one after another.

The hardcoded seed nodes (white peers) are no longer online, and p2p's (the grey peers) are also for the most part gone.

However, the community is committed to keeping a working version of the KGH blockchain 100% online and fully synced 24/7 on a full node which will be working at least until the coin swap to the new 2.0 blockchain (XKR) happens, and which anyone can connect to at the following IP and port:

208.97.141.93:25386

In addition to our community node, the Walpool mining pool also currently maintains a working daemon with an updated, synced blockchain which will stay active as long as the pool remains up. Connect to it at this IP and port:

89.208.251.19:25386

INSTRUCTIONS FOR OVERRIDING DEFUNCT HARDCODED SEED NODES:
This how-to is for Linux CLI, but Windows CLI would be fairly similar.
First, go into your directory where the blockchain is stored: a hidden dir called .Kwagsh
(list it with ls -la)

Make a backup copy of the file p2pstate.dat and then delete it
Code: Select all
 cp p2pstate.dat p2pstate.dat.backup
 rm p2pstate.dat

Switch directories to where you have your Kwagshd executable, the Kwagsh daemon.

Start it with the following two hardcoded seeds:
Code: Select all
sudo ./Kwagshd --add-peer 89.208.251.19:25386 --add-peer 208.97.141.93:25386

Your Kwagshd should start and begin to sync.
Once in a while, type height or status if you get impatient.
When fully synced, you can start ./simplewallet as you always do and then type balance

For windows, run the following:

Kwagshd --add-peer 89.208.251.19:25386 --add-peer 208.97.141.93:25386

Worked for me.

Yes, I can confirm. I am on Windows and what S7nAcks just said: works for me, too.
Thank you, oooouhhgh and S7nAcks.

I am glad to hear this, staiv. THAT is what being a community is all about. Even if the developer disappeared and abandoned his coin, all the rest of us are still here and we help each other. Together, we make it work. That's why I believe in the new version so much. I just know deep down inside that Kredits will become successful, and it is all because of this great community that we have.
